is navigable by boats without a mast for more than 30 nautical miles upstream. This serene waterway winds through National Park with teatree and melaleuca, abundant bird life and many protected places to anchor. There are protected areas for waterskiing and it’s the perfect place for fishing and canoeing.
Broughton Island…
is approximately 7 nautical miles north of the Port Stephens heads and makes an easy day trip with several options to anchor depending on the swell. This beautiful marine park reserve is accessible by boat only. Fish, dive or snorkel in the clear ocean water, or visit the beautiful beaches on shore.
Humpback Whales…
migrating north pass Port Stephens in early winter and are easy to spot from land or boat. Take your boat out with a full picnic to enjoy the spectacle, or join one of the commercial operators based in the area
